Park Ranger Shoots Suspect at American River Parkway

A Sacramento County park ranger shot a man during a scuffle by the American River Parkway this morning. The man fled and allegedly carjacked a car before crashing it a short distance later.
According to the Sacramento County Sheriff's Department, the incident began unfolding about 9:45 a.m. when a park ranger patrolling the Sailor Bar entrance to the American River Parkway located a car matching the description of a vehicle wanted in a burglary.
The car's two occupants were repairing a flat tire when the park ranger approached. As the park ranger checked the man for weapons, the man allegedly drew a screw driver. There was a struggle and the park ranger drew her weapon and fired at the man, according to a sheriff's department spokesman. Karlawan Seunarine II, 24, was struck once in the upper torso.
