California Rapids Look Good For Autumn

If you're coming up dry on plans for your Labor Day weekend, it's high time to think "wet." As in rivers. The big flows that made some rivers almost un-runnable in spring have generated a predictable side benefit: an extended whitewater rafting season. On many prime rivers, that extension will last well into fall.
The popular South Fork American River in the center of the state is expected to keep flowing well above 1,000 cfs for seven days a week well into the fall, and the more challenging Middle Fork American to hold at 900 cfs or better for at least six days per week.
