Wild Winnebago Chase Ends In American River

Talk about your road trips. A man in a motor home led officers on a bizarre high speed chase this morning, slamming into cars, crashing through yards and ending in the American River.
The chase began in Citrus Heights when officers spotted a Winnebago with stolen plates and driving erratically. Officers attempted to stop the driver, but he quickly took off side-swiping several cars along the way.
The CHP and Sacramento County Sheriff's department joined the wild Winnebago chase through several surface streets and the yards of several homes. Police say the Winnebago chase ended at the American River at Sunrise Boulevard where the driver jumped out of the Winnebago and into the American River trying to avoid capture. Officers were finally able to capture him with the help of the fire department's rescue boat.
