Homeland Security helicopter on patrol accidentally hit it with a rotor Monday near Folsom Lake, officials learn.
The helicopter that severed a power line over Folsom Lake on Monday was a U.S. Customs and Border Protection aircraft on a patrol flight, officials said Wednesday.
The incident was not reported to federal aviation officials, authorities said. Officials with the National Transportation Safety Board said they are not notified unless an aircraft is damaged, someone is injured or an incident causes property damage on the ground exceeding $25,000.
No one was injured in the incident, and it is unclear whether the helicopter was damaged. Several officials with Customs and Border Protection in Washington, D.C., San Diego and the Sacramento region did not return phone calls seeking comment.
