{"id":233,"date":"2011-06-23T22:29:36","date_gmt":"2011-06-23T22:29:36","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.americanriverwildlife.com\/?p=233"},"modified":"2011-07-04T03:18:41","modified_gmt":"2011-07-04T03:18:41","slug":"sacramento-boat-patrols-to-be-eliminated","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.americanriverwildlife.com\/?p=233","title":{"rendered":"Sacramento boat patrols to be eliminated"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>The Sacramento Fire Department&#8217;s two boat patrols are set to be eliminated due to budget cuts in mid-July.\u00a0<strong><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>That announcement comes a day after Sacramento City, Sacramento  Metro and the Folsom Fire Departments made nearly two dozen rescues on  the water during &#8220;Operation River Safe&#8221;.&#8221;<\/p>\n<p>In the past five days, we&#8217;ve rescued 53 people and two dogs on the American River,&#8221; said Sac Metro spokesman Dale Turner. Due  to heavy winter snow, the American River is running unusually high and  fast for this time of year.<\/p>\n<p>Emergency crews are warning that the  conditions are dangerous even for experienced swimmers.
