{"id":301,"date":"2011-07-05T14:13:53","date_gmt":"2011-07-05T14:13:53","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.americanriverwildlife.com\/?p=301"},"modified":"2011-07-19T17:33:27","modified_gmt":"2011-07-19T17:33:27","slug":"alcohol-ban-fewer-rescues-on-american-river","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.americanriverwildlife.com\/?p=301","title":{"rendered":"VIDEO: Alcohol ban = fewer rescues on American River"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A series of dramatic river rescues about 10 days ago may have set the  tone for the 4th of July holiday weekend.\u00a0 Some avoided rivers like the  American because of the dangers.\u00a0 But an alcohol ban approved by the  State Legislature is getting most of the credit for taking the sizzle  out of the 4<sup>th.<\/sup>.<\/p>\n<p>The loud sounds of a helicopter could be heard moving up and down the  American River on Monday.\u00a0 But it\u2019s what you couldn\u2019t see or hear that  made the most striking difference: there was less alcohol on the river.\u00a0  25-year-old Elizabeth Depelteau was struck by the change. \u00a0\u201dThey would  get really wasted and everybody would fight and mud wrestle and do all  those kinds of things.\u00a0 It was really scary.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>But there are tradeoffs.
