{"id":3024,"date":"2016-02-10T07:56:01","date_gmt":"2016-02-10T15:56:01","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.americanriverwildlife.com\/?p=3024"},"modified":"2016-02-10T07:56:01","modified_gmt":"2016-02-10T15:56:01","slug":"folsom-lake-increases-water-outflow-despite-ca-drought","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.americanriverwildlife.com\/?p=3024","title":{"rendered":"Folsom Lake increases water outflow despite CA drought"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>Folsom Lake is nearly doubling the amount of water it lets out through its dam as water officials look to make room for the above average Sierra snowpack and future storms.<\/p>\n<p>The lake is currently at 116 percent of its historical average for this time of year and is 61 percent full.<\/p>\n<p>Officials with the U.S. Bureau of Reclamation, which manages Folsom Lake levels, worry too much water could cause a safety issue that could lead to flooding downriver.<\/p>\n<p>In December, the lake reached an all-time low. Since then, it\u2019s added more than four times as much water.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe can\u2019t hold onto all of it,\u201d said Shane Hunt, a Bureau of Reclamation Public Affairs Officer. \u201cWe\u2019re going to see more inflows come in than the reservoir can take, even if it doesn\u2019t rain anymore, just from the snowpack.
