{"id":3243,"date":"2016-09-19T07:24:39","date_gmt":"2016-09-19T14:24:39","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.americanriverwildlife.com\/?p=3243"},"modified":"2016-09-19T07:24:39","modified_gmt":"2016-09-19T14:24:39","slug":"12-tons-of-trash-pulled-in-great-sierra-river-cleanup","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.americanriverwildlife.com\/?p=3243","title":{"rendered":"12 tons of trash pulled in Great Sierra River Cleanup"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>More than one thousand volunteers in the Sierra Nevada Region helped pull 12 tons of trash from rivers, lakes, and streams on Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>The event was all a part of the 8<sup>th<\/sup> annual Great Sierra River Cleanup.<\/p>\n<p>Estefan Galvan, 25, is a diver with seven years experience who helped cleanup Saturday.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cDiving is a whole different world. It\u2019s an entirely different world,\u201d Galvan said. \u201cWhen you get under water it\u2019s a completely different feel, your away from everything at the surface.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Galvan joined a crew of a dozen divers in Folsom, California who pulled several items from the American River.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cOur main focus is going to be under the cliff diving spots and under the bridges where people tend to be looking over the edges or jumping off or throwing things over,\u201d Galvan said.<\/p>\n<p>The group pulled a bicycle, fishing rod, cans, glass, anchors and more from the American River.<\/p>\n<p>More at<a href=\"http:\/\/www.abc10.com\/news\/local\/sacramento\/12-tons-of-trash-pulled-in-great-sierra-river-cleanup\/319725582\"> ABC10.com<\/a> &gt;&gt;&gt;<\/p>\n","protected":false},"excerpt":{"rendered":"<p>More than one thousand volunteers in the Sierra Nevada Region helped pull 12 tons of trash from rivers, lakes, and streams on Saturday.
