{"id":3341,"date":"2017-02-07T16:28:58","date_gmt":"2017-02-08T00:28:58","guid":{"rendered":"http:\/\/www.americanriverwildlife.com\/?p=3341"},"modified":"2017-02-07T16:28:58","modified_gmt":"2017-02-08T00:28:58","slug":"heavy-snowpack-looks-good-for-folsom-lake","status":"publish","type":"post","link":"https:\/\/www.americanriverwildlife.com\/?p=3341","title":{"rendered":"Heavy snowpack looks good for Folsom Lake"},"content":{"rendered":"<p>A whopping Sierra snowpack now could mean great boating and water skiing on Folsom Lake this summer.<\/p>\n<p>The state\u2019s official snow survey last week showed the Sierra snowpack is at 173 percent of its early February average.<\/p>\n<p>That means, come summer, steady snowmelt should keep Folsom at relatively high levels.<\/p>\n<p>So tune up the outboard motor and break out the water skis: It\u2019s likely to be a very watery summer.<\/p>\n<p>\u201cWe should see strong runoff into Folsom through the summer months,\u201d said Louis Moore, deputy public information officer for the Bureau of Reclamation in Sacramento. \u201cTypically, August is the month with the highest levels at Folsom.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>Recently, the lake held 407,000 acre feet; the maximum capacity is 977,000 acre feet.
